Ignorance

I'm still sick. Pretty sick.

Pret-tay, pret-tay, pretty sick.

Anyways, I ran into this the other day:

NPR: New Edition of 'Huckleberry Finn' will Eliminate Offensive Words

Yes, please. Let's breed some MORE fucking ignorance, shall we? This coming from the people who call liberals too concerned with being politically correct. This likely coming from the same people who would rather teach our kids abstinence way before methods of safe(r) sex. This is unbelievably condescending.

Ignorance is bliss. Except it's not.

  1. I read that too. Amen to everything you said. Mark Twain would be livid.

So sorry you're still sick, Lisa. Hope you feel better soon.

  2. P.S. If I ever write a book that's published, I will take whatever measures I have to before I die to ensure no "fuck" words are taken out of it. Ever.

  3. ...makes me very, very glad I have a copy, an actual physical copy of the book... because I know that Malcolm can read it as Twain intended it to be read, because I know that whenever I desire to read the book I can read it the way Twain intended it to be read.

The word in question needs to be taken in context. Considering the time the book was written and the time in which the book is set it was not a bad word, it was a common word used by everyone all the time... like cat, man, car...

I think these people who have these sticks up their asses about books need to turn on a hip-hop/R&B radio station and listen to the music that so many young people listen to. Maybe they'll start focusing on something else and leave our literature ALONE.
